Betty Jean Gladney was born in Winnsboro, SC on February 19, 1940 to the late Alex Gladney and Beatrice McKinsler. She was preceded in death by her brother Alex Gladney, Jr., and one grandson, Kenneth Dawkins. She departed for her heavenly home on March 29 ^th , 2011. She was educated in the Guilford County School System, and was employed with Cone Mills Corporation for 32 yrs. Upon her early retirement, she later worked for the Guilford County School System for 10 yrs, before retiring again due to illness.

She leaves with loving memories; Tommy Gladney and Benita Gladney, from Killeen, TX, Melissa Gladney, from St. Paul MN, and Norris Gladney, Karen Gore (Gary)., from Greensboro, NC. Sister, Alease Jackson. Grandchildren, Derrick Fox, Dexter Dawkins, Brian Gladney, JeCorie Williams, and Kayla Gore; 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 3:00pm at St. James Baptist Church, 536 W. Florida Street. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. The visitation will be from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at the church, at other times, the family will meet on 1804 Covenant Lane.

The family would like to thank the employees at Wesley Long Cancer Center for all of their hard work, and the employees at Hospice of Greensboro, for without them, her struggle would have been much harder.
