Jeanette Smith Mebane, 78, passed away on Saturday April 28, 2012.

Family visitation will be at Celia Phelps United Methodist Church Thursday May 3 from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m.

Jeanette was born in Hendersonville on May 7, 1933 to the late Willie and Estelle Smith. She was preceded in death by her sisters Jessie Mae and Joann, a daughter Melody Ann and a son Darryl Lincoln.

In 1955 Jeanette graduated from North Carolina A&T State University and began a teaching career of 32 years until illness forced her to retire. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family and friends. She will truly be missed.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Golden Living Center-Greensboro staff for all their wonderful care and happiness.
